Join Us! Depending on your area of interest or background, there are a variety of opportunities open each year on the Gala Dinner Committee and its subcommittees. Each subcommittee is led by a chair or team of co-chairs to develop key aspects of the Dinner, including:

  • Table Captains: The foundation of the Dinner’s attendance is built around table captains who strive to fill tables of 10. The Table Captain Sub-Committee hosts events focused on securing table captains, developing their table attendance and acknowledging their commitment. (Chair: Jessica Bair at jessica.hrcla@yahoo.com)
  • Corporate Sponsorships: The success of each Los Angeles Annual Gala event is greatly attributable to the kind sponsorship of corporate America. Our local Corporate Sponsorship Sub-Committee reaches out to the local corporate community, along with HRC staff, to secure their support. (Co-Chairs: Earl Clarkston at earl@hrcla.net and Gwen Baba at gwen@hrcla.net)
  • Silent Auction: The Silent Auction is an exciting part of our traditional dinner festivities that offers everything from vacations and unique experiences to one-of-a-kind art items, jewelry, and more. The Silent Auction Sub-Committee networks locally and nationally to secure items for the auction. (Chair: Nam Lam at nam@hrcla.net)
  • Program Book: The Los Angeles Annual Gala Event Program Book chronicles the night’s events and gives friends, local businesses, and corporations the opportunity to support the Dinner. The Program Sub-Committee solicits ads and helps to design the book. (Chair: Travis Pham at travis@hrcla.net)
  • Volunteer Management: HRC Los Angeles owes much of its event success to its volunteer force. The Volunteer Sub-Committee provides a pool of volunteers for pre-Dinner events and for the night of the Dinner itself. Volunteers on this sub-committee have the opportunity to attend the event and assist with: Ushering, Greeting, Assembling Gift Bags, and Administering the Silent Auction. Opportunities are available prior to the weekend of the Los Angeles dinner, as well as throughout the event weekend itself.   • Community and Political Outreach: Our Community and Political Outreach team is our liaison to the greater Los Angeles area and political leaders, helping us publicize the event to our full community of stakeholders are in attendance. (Chair: Sue LaVaccare at lavaccare@gmail.com)
